Mobile Health Units to be launched

Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, the Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare, has said that the Sindh Health Department in collaboration with Population Welfare Department will launch 24 Mobile Health Units to serve those areas where health facilities are not currently available. Furthermore, 5 Mammography units will start working in Larkana, Jamshoro, Badin, Dadu and Karachi. These units would be equipped with X-Ray machines, labs and other health facilities.

Secretary Health Saeed Ahmed Awan, Secretary Population Welfare Zahid Abbasi, special Secretary Health Hafeezullah Abbasi and other officers also attended the meeting.

The Minister added, ‘Family Planning services will also be provided through these units in collaboration with Population Welfare Department’. It was also told in the meeting that along with specializing facilities an ICU Unit would be stationed at District Qambar; while an other unit with OT facilities would be at Mirpurkhas to facilitate the needy patients’.

Dr. Azra asked the officers concerned to arrange proper security measures for these Mobile Health Units when they were made functional. She also directed to assign Lady Health Worker and Community Midwives with these units.
