Seven-day anti-polio campaign to begin in Sindh tomorrow.

The workers of the anti-polio campaign had been given the necessary protective gear for their protection against coronavirus infection, and they had been briefed on the precautions against harsh weather conditions.

The chief secretary emphasised that 100 per cent results of the polio immunisation campaign should be obtained. He directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners posted in the province to improve their performance in this regard. He appealed to the masses to extend cooperation with the polio teams as every family should inoculate all its children of up to five years of age against the crippling disease.

He also directed the provincial home department to take the due security measures to ensure the protection of the polio workers in the province. The health minister said the services of social media influencers would be availed to persuade the reluctant parents to administer polio drops to their eligible children. She also appealed to parents to take part in the polio immunisation campaign.

She said over 71,000 volunteers of the anti-polio campaign would take part in the forthcoming campaign. The officials of the World Health Organization and National Emergency and Operation Centre took part in the meeting through video link and assured the Sindh government their fullest cooperation to conduct the anti-polio drive.
