First Meeting of Sindh AIDs Commission

In compliance of “Sindh HIV/AIDS Control Treatment and Protection Act, 2013” and ensure the functionality of Sindh AIDS Commission (SAC), Department of Health re-notified the Sindh AIDS Commission (SAC) on 6^th September, 2019. The first meeting of this commission for both Governing & Working Body was held on 16^th September 2019 under the Chair of Honorable Minister Health Sindh at Karachi.

This meeting was attended by the Secretary Health, Special Secretary PH, Program Manager Sindh AIDS control Program along with his team.

The members which attended the first meeting were Ms. Majida Rizvi,  Retired Judge, Sindh High Court; Mr. Gul Muneer Shah, Retired Judge Session Court Sindh; Dr. Hussain Buksh Memon, Retired DG Health Department Sindh; Dr. Rafiq Khanani, President Infection Control Society; Dr. Shobha, Expert Infection Prevention, Dow University of Health Sciences; Dr. Naseem Salahuddin, Indus Hospital; Mr. Asif Soomro, Lawyer; Dr. Sharaf Ali Shah, representative NGO working on Injection Drug Users; Mr. Muhammad Raza, Representative of PLHIV; Ms. Rubab & Ms. Bindia Rana Representatives of Risk Community.

The Program Manager SACP, presented programs overview including HIV outbreak at Larkana and Government of Sindh outbreak response. The members of Sindh AIDS Commission floated their suggestions/recommendations regarding testing, treatment, care & support for the HIV/AIDS efforts and way forward for Government of Sindh to make this program more viable.

This meeting ends with vote of thanks from Secretary Health Sindh.
