The 12th Meeting of the Sindh FP2020 Working Group was held here on today at the EPI conference hall, EoC/Polio Cell, Karachi. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health and Population Welfare Sindh. Dr. Talib Lashari, Focal Person, FP2020 and Technical Advisor,Costed Implementation Plan (CIP), Zahid Hussain Abbasi, Secretary Population Welfare Department and Hafeezullah Abbasi Special Secretory Department of Health also attended the meeting. The chair Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho started emphasized the significance of family planning and shared the core measures Sindh Government taken so far to address the issue. In the meeting, multiple action points were discussed, such as:

1- In order to uplift the Karachi Division performance (in respect of raising FP users/clients), a meeting need to conduct between CIP, PWD, DoH, PPHI, LHW Prog and relative development partners to address the issue accordingly. The secretaries from PWD and DoH will attend the meeting along with their DPWOs and DHOs respectively.

2- After rolling out sayana press in Malir, Korangi and Thatta, further ToTs (trainings of trainers) need to conduct in order to trickle down trainings of LHWs, LHVs, FWWs to rollout sayana press in other districts of Sindh. UNFPA and Jhpaigo will lead the activity

3- A proper stock management system need to form in order for a balance distribution of stock (commodities) in all districts as per their need. A committee need to form in this regard to track the stock management and distribution respectively

4- Availability and distribution of Jadelle will be started by end of April 2019, as the new consignment will reach in PWD central warehouse up to 28th April 2019

5- Another committee needs to form to plan a peri urban strategy specially for Karachi and Hyderabad in order to track the reason of fall of CPR in urban areas (as reported in recent PDHS). Sukh Initiative will coordinate and contribute their major role in this activity

6- By conducting successful recent youth conferences in LUMHS Jamshoro, QUEST Shaheed Benazirabad and Isra Hyderabad, further more need to continue in other districts as well by considering students examination and vacation schedule

7- A family planning brand ambassador need to appoint in order to promote the subject through print and electronic media

8- National narrative need to be revised, is too lengthy and very detailed. It must be very concise and brief (approx. 1 para) as to go through it quickly

9- LHW referrals must need to enhance in order to utilize the LHWs at the optimal level respectively

10- Furthermore proper counseling and screening needed of FP clients in order to minimize the jaddelle removal which is reported quite high in recent analysis

11- A special meeting need to conduct in between DPWO Ghotki and Dr Talib Lashari in the district in order to identify the reasons of the district poor performance regarding the subject and to find out their solutions respectively were discussed.
